Where Mortgage Advice Feels Like a Neighbourly Chat — Because That’s How I Grew Up
People often ask me, “What’s your connection to Alberta?”
The answer is simple: Alberta isn’t just somewhere I work — it’s home in my heart.
Though I now call Saskatchewan home base as a licensed mortgage broker, I’m also fully licensed in Alberta and have proudly built a thriving, loyal client base across the province. From Calgary and Okotoks to Diamond Valley and the Crowsnest Pass, Alberta has shaped who I am — both personally and professionally.
This isn’t just about business for me. It’s about connection, legacy, and showing up for people in the moments that matter most — like buying a home, renewing a mortgage, or planning for the future.
Let me share a little more about where it all started.
Calgary Born, Foothills Raised — and Proud of It
I was born in Calgary, and while most of my childhood was spent growing up in Saskatchewan, every single summer was Alberta-bound.
Those long, warm months were spent in the foothills, where my grandparents owned and ranched their land. Picture cattle drives, horseback rides and hauling bales. It was the kind of upbringing that teaches you more than you realize at the time — about grit, gratitude, work ethic, and the value of community.
Those memories are deeply etched into who I am today — both as a person and as a mortgage professional who values relationships just as much as results.
Family Ties That Still Run Strong
In 2002, my parents and siblings moved back west. Alberta wasn’t just a place we visited — it became home again for much of my family.
My mom became a familiar face in Longview as she ran Ian Tyson’s iconic Navajo Mug coffee and gift shop, a beloved staple in the community. My grandparents, after retiring from ranching, took on a new venture — owning and operating the local liquor store.
Today, my sister lives and works in Diamond Valley, and my brother and his family are raising their kids in Mahogany, Calgary. Even my grandfather spent his final years nestled in the Crowsnest Pass, close to the mountains, where his heart felt most at peace.
The connection runs deep — and it’s only grown stronger over the years.
Alberta Isn’t Just My Past — It’s Still My Present
This past week reminded me just how much Alberta still means to me.
I was back in Coleman for the Kananaskis Rodeo cabaret — dancing the night away with family and soaking up that classic Alberta energy. There’s something about the mountain towns, and the warmth of the people, and the way a small town pulls together that fills my cup every time.
From there, I spent time in Longview — catching up with my longtime friend and real estate colleague Laur Burritt of Remax. Our partnership began nearly 20 years ago, and it’s one of the reasons my Alberta client base grew so strong, so fast. We shared a sunny lunch at the Little New York Bistro, talking shop, and plotting how we’ll keep bringing the best service to clients across the province.
And there’s more good news: my newly onboarded underwriter is now based in Okotoks!

Please help me officially welcome Roxann Bridge to our team. We spent time working in person this week — another sign that my Alberta business isn’t just growing; it’s thriving.
Local Life, Local Markets, Local Expertise
One of the best parts about being licensed in Alberta is that I get to serve communities I know intimately. Whether it’s:
- Helping first-time buyers in Calgary and area navigate their mortgage options
- Working with families relocating to the foothills
- Supporting renewals and refinances in smaller towns like Bragg Creek, Diamond Valley, Priddis, Longview, Okotoks, High River and surrounding areas.
- Or just being a trusted voice in markets that are constantly evolving
…I’m here for it. I bring not just professional know-how but lived experience and local understanding.
This isn’t a cookie-cutter approach. It’s customized, compassionate guidance heart.
A Weekend Snapshot: The Beauty of Alberta Living
Last weekend was a perfect blend of business, family, and Alberta charm.
- I explored the buzzing Mother’s Day Market in Longview, where the community spirit was alive with food trucks, local vendors, art galleries, and the grand opening of the new Brass Buffalo Trading Post.

- I soaked in the nostalgia of the old hotel being transformed into a film set — yet another reminder of the quiet magic Alberta towns hold.
- I celebrated Mother’s Day with a scenic drive to Bragg Creek, a hidden gem just 45 minutes from Calgary that feels like a whole different world — peaceful, stunning, and full of character.

- We wandered through quaint shops, grabbed café treats, and just breathed. That’s the beauty of Alberta — it gives you room to breathe.
